The Great South Coast region in Victoria’s south-west extends from the Shipwreck Coast to the South Australian border.
Home to a significant dairy industry, the region is reliant on agriculture and manufacturing, with healthcare and social assistance an emerging sector.
The Great South Coast also has a thriving tourism industry based around its spectacular coastline and natural scenery, including the Great Ocean Road, Budj Bim World Heritage site, Tower Hill and the Twelve Apostles.
Opportunities
Great South Coast communities and the Great South Coast Regional Partnership have identified a need for:
- upgrading arts and cultural facilities to support the visitor economy
- coordinating tourism pathways to capitalise on natural assets, such as the Budj Bim World Heritage site, the Shipwreck Coast and the Great Ocean Road
